Fisting requires more preparation and communication than ordinary fingering or intimate touching. It should never be introduced unexpectedly or assumed simply because a companion appears within this category.

A non-verbal signal should also be agreed, such as raising a hand or repeatedly tapping. Both adults must understand the signal and respond without hesitation.

Safewords support communication but do not replace attentiveness. Visible distress, panic, significant pain, unexpected bleeding or difficulty communicating are reasons to stop, even when the agreed word or signal has not been used.

Hygiene and Protective Barriers

Careful hygiene is particularly important because vaginal and rectal tissue can be irritated or injured. NHS guidance recommends protective gloves and plenty of water-based lubricant for vaginal and anal fisting.

Hands and wrists should be clean, nails should be short and smooth, and rings, watches or other jewellery that could scratch the skin should be removed.

A new glove should be used when changing between participants or different body areas. Anything used for anal contact should not subsequently be transferred to the vagina without appropriate cleaning and a completely new protective barrier.

Lubrication, Pace and Physical Comfort

• any other arrangements confirmed beforehand.

The full amount should be agreed before the appointment is finalised. Payment never overrides consent or guarantees that the experience will proceed when either person feels uncomfortable.
