Agreeing Exactly What May Be Filmed
Consent to an appointment is not consent to photography, video or audio recording. Permission to film should be specific and should clearly establish what the recording may include.
Before the meeting, both adults should agree on:
- what may and may not appear in the recording;
- whether video, photographs and audio are permitted;
- which device will be used;
- who will operate the camera;
- whether the companion’s voice may be recorded;
- which identifying features must remain hidden;
- who will control and retain the file;
- how long the recording may be stored; and
- whether it must be deleted after viewing.
Consent to create a private recording does not automatically include permission to copy, edit, upload, sell, publish or share it with another person.
